Imagine a city of mountains that reach the clouds, blue lake water and hundreds of palm trees.

Sounds like a dream, right?

Wrong. Welcome to Lugano, Switzerland.

I was lucky enough to enjoy this paradise at Hotel Delfino. Not only was the city amazing, but the hotel went above and beyond on their duties as a luxury hotel.  The room and view were stunning, the food was incredible and the staff took hospitality to a whole new level.

And guess what? I decided to share this incredible experience with all of you.

The Layout

The minute I walked into the room, I couldn’t contain my excitement about my stay for the next five days. The bed was big, but the wall of windows overlooking Lake Lugano was even bigger. Whether it be the sunset or the dewy sky in the morning, I never got tired of the magical views from the room. With two chairs and a table, I found myself enjoying espresso, tea and everything in between on the balcony. (P.S., Hotel Delfino doesn’t charge you for the drinks in the mini-fridge, they deserve an award for this alone). I also can’t forget to mention the bathroom packed with two shower heads, a jacuzzi and a bidet. This place will have you feeling like European royalty.

It would have been easy to stay in the luxurious room forever, but the terrace below was calling my name. It was complete with a pool, a ping pong table, a garden, lounge chairs, lemon trees, a dining area and don’t forget the view. I couldn’t resist spending time there.

The Cuisine

It would be an understatement saying Hotel Delfino has it figured out in the food category. The breakfast buffet is served every morning from 7 to 10, and I suggest you don’t miss it. There isn’t a better way to start the day than a meal overlooking the city of Lugano. At this buffet, there is something for everyone – they even had an unlimited espresso bar for me.

For dinner, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to eat at the beautiful Delfino Restaurant that serves local and fresh foods coincided with the seasons. The flavors were unforgettable and the service top notch. These mouthwatering photos don’t even do it justice – you must go and taste it for yourself.

My Suggestions

Attend an event put on by the hotel. I was lucky enough to make it to Lugano just in time for a wedding dress fashion show. It was the perfect start to my vacation. I found myself eating all night, whether it be the array of appetizers, creamy risotto or the delicious tiramisu. I was also happy to get my hands on some sweet prosecco to sip while watching the show.

If you are looking for a view outside of your balcony, I suggest going to the top of two different mountains: Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore. The best part is, they are both a scenic walking distance from the hotel. This is an unforgettable experience and gives you a new perspective of Lugano. Ask the front desk for information on tickets, as they are always happy to help.

Make friends with the staff, they might give you some cooking tips to take back home. The hotel heard me raving about the risotto and shared their secret recipe. I can’t wait to make it for my loved ones.

When you decide to take a trip to Lugano, and notice I said when and not if, I definitely suggest a stay at Hotel Delfino. It is a beautiful hotel, filled with beautiful people, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Without a doubt, my experience was life changing, eye opening and unforgettable. Thank you Hotel Delfino, I am excited for our paths to cross again in the charming city of Lugano.
